A day for tricks and hoaxes
Watch out on Friday, and don’t fall for anything that sounds fishy or too good to be true. It will be April Fools’ Day.
According to History. com, April Fools’ Day has been celebrated for several centuries, but its exact origins remain a mystery. Some speculate that April Fools’ Day dates to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. People who were slow to get the news didn’t know that the start of the new year had moved to Jan. 1. When they celebrated the new year in late March through April 1, they became the butt of jokes.
There are very few planned celebrations for April 1, naturally, but The Red Hot Chili Peppers plan to return on April Fool’s Day with a new album.
