Palmetto Bay, Florida - Shirley Spiegelman, 87, long-time resident of Palmetto Bay, passed away peacefully at home Apr. 13 with her angels Maria and Mila by her side. She was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts to William and Irene Handelman and was a graduate of the University of Miami. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Spiegelman, her son Steven Spiegelman (Janine), her daughter Ronni (Paul), and Grandchildren Stanley, Marisa, and Kendra. Shirley’s life reflected her times as she was a dedicated homemaker and a wonderful cook. She loved the arts, attending shows in Coconut Grove, Gables, and Miami Beach on a regular basis. Shopping and lunching with her friends along with a weekly game of Bridge and Mahjong was always on her schedule. Nothing was more important to Shirley than her family. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Apr. 18 at 11 a.m. at Mount Nebo Miami Memorial Gardens 5505 NW 3 St. Miami Florida.
Miami Lakes, Florida GLENN-ELLEN RAWLS, a 57 year resident of Miami Lakes passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85. She was born on September 23, 1936 in Rock Hill, South Carolina where she lived until becoming a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. Glenn-Ellen married Robert Louis Rawls (Lou) in 1959. She became the mother of 3 children who loved her dearly; Anne-Marie, Bob, and John. Glenn-Ellen was an exceptional grandmother to her 3 granddaughters; Summer, Whytney, and Bailey with whom she created unforgettable memories. More recently she has cherished the experience of becoming a great-grandmother to CJ and Aubrey. Glenn-Ellen loved to read, play bridge, complete crossword puzzles, collect shells, and send the most thoughtful letters to her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn-Ellen’s honor to Main Street Players and can be sent to 7010 Greentree Lane Miami Lakes, FL 33014 in care of Anne-Marie Little who will deliver the much appreciated offerings.
