Anna Louise Fulks July 19, 1937 - April 8, 2022

-

Coral Gables, Florida Anna Louise Fulks, 84, of Coral Gables, passed away peacefully on April 8 after a fiercely fought two-year battle with cancer. It would be wrong, however, to say that Anna Louise lost her battle because she never stopped fighting.

Anna Louise was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1937 to a Norwegian mother, Anna Monsieur, and American father, Everett Ellington. Her father died in 1939, when Anna Louise was just two, and with the outbreak of WWII preventing a return to Norway, Anna Louise and her mother moved to Miami to start anew.

Anna Louise graduated from Miami High in 1955, with her first job working Classifieds at the Miami Herald. She found her passion, however, within the medical field, and worked as an Office Manager for several doctors over the next 40 years.

During her retirement, she was active in many charitable organizations, including Gold-Diggers, Gilded Lilies, Coral Gables Garden Club, and South Miami Garden Club. One of her last projects as President of the South Miami Garden Club was the installation and dedication of the Blue Star Memorial on South U.S. 1.

Anna Louise made friends wherever she went. A genuine “people person”, she remembered every person’s name, where they were from, and their story.

Anna Louise was predeceased by her parents, as well as former spouse Charles Lee Fulks. She is survived by her two children, Charles Stephen Fulks, of Coral Gables, and Lisa Murphy (Mike) of Shorewood, MN; four grandchildren - Eric Murphy (Lyndsay), Alaina Fortune (Michael), Dana Murphy (Willard), and Kelly Schell (Matt); and great-granddaughter Camille Fortune.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor’s choice, please. Private service to be held at a later date.

“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.”
