Don’t censor Dade schools’ Day of Prayer
National Day of Prayer is a time to unite us, not divide us. We applaud all the Miami-Dade County School Board members who spoke in support of this resolution, including Lubby Navarro. She was sharing a personal trial in her life, and she praised God and Jesus.
What is wrong with that?
She has every right to make this inclusive statement; it is nothing of which to be ashamed.
How ironic that those who always preach tolerance, respect and inclusion never practice it themselves; rather, they play the victim.
Let’s stop all the drama: Those seeking therapy in the district will still be able to receive it, we all know that; nothing will change. There is no need to apologize; censorship is un-American.
This resolution has been deemed legally sufficient by the School Doard attorney because it’s voluntary, not coercive, and legal. We will not allow faith to be discriminated against or erased from our public schools.
The Miami Herald’s April 15 article “Prayer proclamation in Miami causes stir when board members says Jesus is only God” is the perfect example of how Christianity is under attack.
If this same statement had been made by a Jewish or Muslim School Board member, I doubt the article would have been written.
