By some calendars, the art season is coming to a close.

But most museums and galleries have embraced Miami as a 12-month arts destination. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on tap:

Direlia Lazo has curated shows at the Havana Biennial, Faena Art and China’s Times Museum Guangzhou. Through May 24, her curatorial eye can be seen at Little River’s Dot Fiftyone Gallery: Laura Marsh: “Knots hold intentionality,” featuring work by Laura March, and “Remembering something differently,” with work by Oscar Abraham Pabón. 7275 NE Fourth Ave., Unit

Photography fans are in for a treat. On May 7, the Frost-FIU Museum of Art opens an exhibition of works by Moroccan Lalla Essaydi, who creates intriguing images of Arab women that are both modest and surprisingly sensual. “image and Text” — referring to the calligraphy displayed on the women’s bodies — runs May 7-Aug. 7. frost.fiu.edu.

Wynwood’s Nader Museum is extending its “Botero Immersed” show through June 30, matching works by the Colombian master Fernando Botero with music composed by Emilio Estefan. Tickets at www.boteroimmersed.com.

In recent years, the famous Coppertone Girl billboard has graced Biscayne Boulevard at Northeast 73rd Street as a marker of the Upper East Side’s Mid-Century Modern heritage. As charming as it is, the blue-eyed blond-haired toddler is a relic of a far different time.

What would a relevant Miami icon look like today? Who would replace the blondie on the beach whose dog is tugging at her drawers?
