8PM (MAX) MOVIE Promising Young Woman Best known to many for her series roles in “Call the Midwife” and “The Crown” (playing Camilla Parker Bowles in the latter), Emerald Fennell made a formidable feature directoria­l debut with this 2020 black-comedy thriller, earning an Oscar nod in that capacity and taking the award itself for her screenplay. Carey Mulligan scored a best actress nomination (along with several other accolades) for her fearless performanc­e as a 30-year-old medical school dropout who embarks on a vigilante crusade against men who victimize women. Bo Burnham, Jennifer Coolidge and Alison Brie co-star.

8 PM (SHO) Couples Therapy Noted psychologi­st Dr. Orna Guralnik returns to her office in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she welcomes four new couples to begin work on some of their most intimate issues as Season 3 of this docuseries opens. In the premiere, Will and Ping have discovered that being in an open relationsh­ip poses some unexpected challenges, while Molly wonders whether her marriage to Josh can survive their emotional “scar tissue.” Meanwhile, Dale and India trade grievances after the arrival of a new baby, and Cyn questions her monogamous life with Yaya. Another episode follows.

8PM (LMN) MOVIE A Baby at Any Cost Sensing that the surrogate mother they engaged to carry their child is becoming too closely bonded to the infant, a couple tries to distance themselves from the woman. Undaunted, however, the sly surrogate secretly begins administer­ing poison to the new mother, rendering the latter too ill to care for the child and thus ensuring the couple keeps her around. Ultimately, of course, she’s hoping the wife will die, clearing the way for the surrogate to replace her. Sarah Fisher, Brianna Cohen and Johnny Ramey star in this 2022 thriller.

9PM ^ Great Performanc­es PBS kicks off a three-week “Broadway’s Best” event with a 2021 West End production of Cole Porter’s classic musical “Anything Goes,” with Sutton Foster reprising the role of Reno Sweeney, for which she won a Tony Award in 2011 on Broadway. Directed by Tony-winning choreograp­her Kathleen Marshall, this London staging also features yet another Tony winner, Robert Lindsay (“Me and My Girl”), and PBS fan favorite Felicity Kendal (“Good Neighbors”). Porter’s score includes such classics as “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You” and the title song.

9PM (WE) Mama June: From Not to Hot This docuseries spinoff/sequel to “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” returns with new episodes to complete Season 5, as a sober “Mama” June Shannon tries to stay clean and reconcile with her family. In the new “Road to Redemption: Behind Closed Doors,” Mama reveals some big secrets and the family settles into a new house. In another dramatic moment, Pumpkin goes into labor with her second baby, and Alana’s sweet 16 party approaches. On a darker note, Mama goes into hiding after her breakup with Geno backfires.

10 PM (SHO) MOVIE Dating & New York Jonah Feingold made his feature directoria­l debut with this contempora­ry romantic comedy, for which he also wrote the screenplay. As its title suggests, this character-driven indie flick looks at romance in the big city, primarily through the relationsh­ip of Wendy and Milo (Francesca Reale from “Stranger Things” and Jaboukie Young-White, “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah”), strangers who are thrown together on the L-train. The cast also includes Jerry Ferrara, Arturo Castro, Taylor Hill and “Saturday Night Live” regular Alex Moffat.

11 PM (HBO) A Black Lady Sketch Show Among the sketches in the Season 3 finale, Ally hosts a birthday bonfire that her guests are sure to remember, while a group of day campers try to embrace the great outdoors. In another segment, Octavia teaches a workout class that is top secret. Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Skye Townsend star.
