Michael Gordon 1937 - 2017

-

Dearest Michael, As I write this year’s letter I’m reminded of not only losing you in 2017, but this year we lost Javiar Barquet and Nino Pernetti. It’s comforting to know they are with you and one day we will all be re-united. I’m not ready yet, so much to finish here. “Coogie, the Dumpster Cat” is doing well on Amazon and in bookstores so your story (albiet in a feline world) will be told through his eyes and his adventures. The real Coogie is 5 years old now and you would love him. His true and humble beginnings mirror your story and coupled with your life and career Coogie will amuse children all over the world. Our charities and the Gordon Center will always be featured in each book of this continuing series assuring that the work you started will continue. Getting an education and reaching your dreams and goals were always the focus of our philanthrophy, and I’m continuing to support not only those we chose together, but new and worthy charities. I joined the board of Friends of Miami Animals (FOMA) and they are doing amazing work keeping the pet population down, and finding fur-ever homes for all fur-babies in addition to helping fur-parents keep their pets in trying times like the Covid-19 pandemic. The Gordon Center continues to grow and set the standards for training our First Responders and the US Military Medical Detachment Teams who have been needed more than ever these days. I wonder often how you would feel about everything and I wish I could talk to you. I’ve had to learn so much and do so much since you left and I always ask myself - “what would Michael do?”. With the recent passing of both Javiar and Nino (pictured here with you) I cling to the past but I look forward to the future and I will one day see all of you again. I love you, Lynny
