Michael Nathan Kuvin July 26, 1943 - August 3, 2022

Cutler Bay, Florida - Michael Nathan Kuvin, 79, of Cutler Bay, FL, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2022, holding hands with his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Andrea. Mike was born in New York, NY, but raised in Springfield, NJ and then moved to Key Biscayne, FL as a child with his parents, Herbert and Verna Kuvin.

Mike retired from Miami-Dade County Parks & Recreation, where he served as the Trap & Skeet Instructor/Ranger at the Tamiami Gun Range for 18 years. Previous to that, he was employed in construction, and later worked as a licensed general contractor. In his younger years, he was also known as the “Yo-Yo Champion of Miami Beach”. Mike graduated from the Miami Military Academy and attended the University of Miami.

Mike was a voracious reader, avid gardener, loved fly fishing at Deering Pointe and was a big fan of baseball, soccer, and the Tourde-France. He was a former marathon and ultra-marathon runner and one of the founding members of the Miami Runner’s Club in the 1970s at Footworks, in S. Miami, where he was lovingly known as “Mad Dog”.

Mike is predeceased by his father, Herbert Kuvin, mother, Verna Kuvin (née Grand) and Father-in-law, Stanley S. Stein. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Stein Kuvin; son, Sean Kuvin (Ajeeta Khatiwada); daughter, Andrea Salloway (Steven); son, Michael Kimmons (Robin); grandchildren, Samantha, Carly, Mackenzie and Ian; In-laws, Ghanashyam and Bishnu Khatiwada; brother-in-law, George A. Stein; and other loving family and dear friends.

Mike’s immediate family gathered together in private to honor him and his memory. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
