Walter MacDonell December 2, 1932 - September 27, 2022

Dillon, South Carolina - Dr. Walter Edgar MacDonell, 89, passed away at his home, September 27, 2022. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon, SC with the Rev. Henry Altman officiating. Committal services will be 2:00 PM at the Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC. Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon is assisting the family.

Walter was born in Jacksonville, FL December 2, 1932, the son of the late Walter William MacDonell and Gladys Donaldson MacDonell. He practiced General Dentistry in Miami, FL, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Navy Reserves until his retirement with the rank of Commander. He received his Doctorate from Emory Dental School. Walter was Past President of the South Dade Dental Society and held Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He was a member of South West Community Church in Miami, FL and attended Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon, SC.

Dr. MacDonell is survived by his wife, D. Jane MacDonell of the home; sons, Randy MacDonell of Miami, FL, Michael MacDonell (Maria) of Miami, FL. Steve MacDonell (Michelle) of Flower Mound, TX, Alto Odin (Betsy) of Dillon, SC; daughter, Linda Wallace (Phil) of Dillon, SC; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Lenora Chandler and Gladys Lee.
