Miami, Florida - ASCHE, Martha, 94, of Miami, passed away peacefully at her home of 64 years surrounded by family on September 27. She was born in Miami in 1928 at the beginning of the Great Depression when her beloved parents Dutch and Hattie Waits had migrated to Miami from farms in Hawthorne, Florida. She graduated from Miami High School in the class of 1945. She enjoyed her 50th and 60th Class Reunions here in Miami. She attended Florida State College for Women; now FSU.

She was an enthusiast­ic Girl Scout Leader and for many years was a substitute teacher on a daily basis at local elementary schools. Her love of children was a hallmark of her life.

She was a faithful and active member of the congregati­ons of Lejeune Presbyteri­an, Trinity Presbyteri­an, and Southwest Community churches.

She was always first in line to help those that were in need or incapacita­ted. Her loving, loyal, and generous spirit will be missed by her family and friends.

Predecease­d by husband of 59 years Charles. Survivors include daughters Laura Mena (Frank), Susan Hartman (Darrell), and son Charles Asche; 5 granddaugh­ters, 8 great grandchild­ren, and cousin Paul Hardy (Beverly).

The family would like to thank all the caretakers who helped make her final days comfortabl­e and peaceful.

A Celebratio­n of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 2:00 PM at the Southwest Community Church, 8951 SW 44th St.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributi­ons may be made to AccentCare Hospice, 5200 NE 2nd Ave. 3rd Stein, Miami, FL 33137, or to the charity of your choice.
