9PM (HGTV) Renovation Face-Off A little competitive spirit is healthy. A lot is good television. HGTV’s most competitive stars go head-to-head as part of the ultimate renovation competition. Each week, two HGTV hosts face off and try to one-up each other with their favorite flipping and renovation episodes. In the series premiere “Best Ambitious Additions,” Jasmine Roth and Page Turner go head-to-head. Both are facing ambitious additions as Jasmine helps a couple attempt a massive DIY add-on, while Page assists a team of flippers with their first million-dollar property.

10 PM (TCM) MOVIE Blackboard Jungle This 1955 classic, airing as part of the channel’s “Reframed: Films That Shaped Our Culture,” struck a chord with its depiction of high school delinquents and urban violence. It was denounced by many educators and blamed for juvenile violence that took place after its release, but it resonated deeply with American teenagers. It’s now considered a starting point for the teenage rebellion that followed. The film was also a breakthrough for Sidney Poitier and helped to make him into a cultural icon.
