Chiefs’ Mahomes makes an unlikely friend in the Fonz

Over his relatively short career, Patrick Mahomes has amassed a boatload of accomplishments that include a Super Bowl win, MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards, four Pro Bowl selections and over five miles of passing yards. And now he has an admirer in the Fonz.

Yes, Henry Winkler, the now-76-year-old actor famous for playing leather-jacketed biker Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli in the classic sitcom “Happy Days,” is so blown away by the consistent greatness of the Kansas City Chiefs’ future Hall of Fame quarterback that when he appeared on The Roku Channel’s “The Rich Eisen Show” back in June, he invited Mahomes to dinner at his house.

“We make a great chicken stuffed with ricotta and spinach with an unbelievable reduction,” Winkler said on the show to Eisen’s laughter. “It can be yours if you’re here in L.A.”

Mahomes accepted the offer and even reciprocated by inviting Winkler to a luxury suite at SoFi Stadium when the Chiefs visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 30. No word yet on what Mahomes will bring to Winkler’s house for dessert.

Through four games in 2022, Mahomes is once again among the NFL’s elite passers, completing 97 of 146 passes for 1,106 yards (sixth in the league), 11 touchdowns (tied for first), two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 108.4. More importantly, he has the Chiefs off to a fast start with a 3-1 record, good enough for first place in the AFC West as well as the admiration of Henry Winkler.

Mahomes and the Chiefs can be seen in action Sunday, Nov. 6, when they host the Tennessee Titans in a game airing on NBC.
