Yes, if you’re talking greatest centers in Philadelphia 76ers history, one must include the seventh year big man out of Kansas in the same breath with the two Pro Basketball Hall of Famers. And if the 28-year-old Cameroonian can continue his stellar play into his 30s, he’ll likely be joining them in those hallowed halls in Springfield.
His career stats of 26.2 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game are certainly comparable to Malone’s (20.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks) although Chamberlain’s (30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds) were otherworldly and amassed at a time when he was literally head-and-shoulders above the competition as one of the league’s few seven-footers. These days, seven-footers are common and even playing point guard.
Embiid also earned a comparison with the great Wilt the Stilt last month. Within a two game span, he scored 42 points in a Saturday, Nov. 12, game against the Hawks followed by a 59-point performance against the Jazz on Sunday. If you’re scoring at home, that’s 101 points in less than 24 hours. Though it’s not in the class of Chamberlain’s 100-point single-game output in 1962, it certainly evoked memories of that record-setting performance, one that still stands today.

Ah, the Christmas feast.
It’s something we plan for weeks and consume over the course of hours. Then we spend months at the gym getting the excess off our hips and midsections.
It’s also something that has catalyzed memorable Yuletide film scenes over the past century as the turkey, pumpkin pie and other comestibles become backdrop to holiday shenanigans.

8 PM (FOOD) Holiday Baking Championship If only we could smell what’s in the oven through the TV screen. The bakers are feeling the holiday rush as host Jesse Palmer sends them through three heated challenges. First, they’ll have to create ugly sweater cakes that taste better than they look. Then they must turn storebought cake into tasty centerpieces, before building a snowman croquembouche to continue on to the finale in the new episode “Holiday Rush.”
8 PM (ESPN) NFL Football If the New England Patriots are to make the playoffs in a tightly packed AFC East, they’ll need to beat up on struggling teams like the one they face tonight in the Arizona Cardinals. 9PM ^ American Masters This new episode “The Adventures of Saul Bellow,” explores Nobel Prize winner Saul Bellow’s impact on American literature and how he navigated through issues of his time, including race, gender and the Jewish immigrant experience. Bellows is the only writer to win the National Book Award for Fiction three times. Interviews with Philip Roth, Salman Rushdie and others are also featured.
10 PM & Baking It: Maya Rudolph & Amy Poehler’s Celebrity Holiday Special Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler host this new celebrity holiday special featuring Fred Armisen, Kristen Bell, Nicole Richie and JB Smoove, who come together in a friendly competition to “cele-bake” the holidays and raise some dough for their favorite charities. 10 PM (TLC) David & Annie: After the 90 Days David and Annie are returning to Thailand for another attempt to obtain visas for Annie’s brother, Jordan, and cousin, Amber, to attend school in America. This time, David’s daughter Ashley is coming along to finally meet Annie’s family in their village and afterwards, they head to the tourist city of Phuket. The hope is to immerse the kids in English and give them American experiences like BBQ and amusement parks in this Season 2 premiere “Better Luck This Time.”
