When you get Botox, you should get the same results with each treatment
Q. I’ve been having Botox done for many years. It appears that it’s often done differently every time as I never get the same results. What can you tell me about this?
A. While your muscles change over a period of time, you should not get results that are frequently erratic. Rather, I think you may be seeing a practitioner who is inconsistent and may not know what they’re doing. In addition, your practitioner may not write down exactly how many units and where they are putting the neurotoxin.
Having done Botox for well over 30 years, I map out in my patient’s chart exactly how much Botox is administered and where I put it. I call it Precision Individualized Botox (PIB).
In any procedure, surgical or non-surgical, it is important that you can have reproducible results. By understanding the anatomy and the function of the facial muscles, your injector can consistently deliver results that you like.
If you are not getting consistent results, it is probably time to see a different provider. In picking a provider, you should pick one that has experience, preferably board-certified, or is working with a boardcertified physician who is a facial plastic surgeon, plastic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon or a dermatologist.
Noninvasive treatments are very lucrative and everybody is jumping into the game. Make sure that your injector is a qualified individual whom you trust.
