John “Johnny” Cole Brockway III November 2, 1961 - December 22, 2022

-

South Miami, Florida Following a brief illness, our dear John Cole Brockway III, of South Miami, Florida, was summoned to the nearer presence of our Lord December 22. He was 61 years old. John was born November 2, 1961 to John Cole Brockway Jr. and Patricia Ann (Ussery) Brockway in Coral Gables, Florida.

John’s journey was a colorful one. He began his working life alongside his father in the family business, Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables (Bill Ussery Motors) in several roles, eventually becoming the General Manager of the Collision Center.

After a time, he was called to the Big Sky country of Montana, again to work alongside his father as an outfitter (Bear’s Den Outfitters) near Tom Miner Basin on the Custer Gallatin National Forest. Chasing elk and deer, wrangling horses and seeing to it that everyone was safe and comfortable brought him great joy. JB loved the mountains.

Missing “The Big Blue”,

John (with his family) returned to his native Miami and resumed his more tropical pursuits of boating, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. John’s heart was gentle and big as was his love for his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Michelle (Nelson) Brockway of South Miami, Florida; daughters, Brittny Brockway of Palmetto Bay, Florida, Kristy (Brockway) Franck and her husband, Jared Franck of Livingston, Montana, Katie (Brockway) Torbert and her husband, Alex Torbert of Homestead, Florida; his loving mother Pat Brockway of Coral Gables, Florida; sisters, Brenda Brockway and her wife, Bonnie Morrison of Sarasota, Florida and Beth (Brockway) Serrate and her husband, Phil Serrate of Pinecrest, Florida and brother, Bob Brockway and his wife Paula (Stroud) Brockway of Fort Worth, Texas. “Pa” is also survived by three grandchildren, Lauren and Wesley Franck of Livingston, Montana and Sophie Rezaie of Palmetto Bay, Florida; and seven nieces and nephews. John was pre-deceased by his father John Brockway Jr. of Coral Gables and his first wife Kathy Kilgallen of Queens, New York.

A Celebration of Life gathering is planned. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that gifts be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation at donate.melanoma.org
