Broad range of films have shot at Oscar

- — FROM LOS ANGELES TIMES REPORTS

Oscar nominations will be announced Tuesday by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and movie lovers are already placing their bets and lobbying for their favorites. There is no clear front-runner.

Many of Hollywood’s guilds already have had their say. The Screen Actors Guild adored “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin.” Members of the Directors Guild of America apparently couldn’t be bothered to see “Avatar: The Way of Water.” But the Producers Guild of America included it and “Wakanda Forever” among their nominees.

Given all that, here are some leading contenders that might win nominations for a Best Picture Oscar:

“The Banshees of Inisherin” “Everything Everywhere All at Once”

“The Fabelmans”

“Top Gun: Maverick”

“Elvis”

“Tár”

“Avatar: The Way of Water”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”

“The Whale”

“All Quiet on the Western Front” “Triangle of Sadness”
