Miami, Florida from veterinary school and spotted a feral Blue and Gold macaw in the mangroves, Daria managed to bring home what came to be known as “Big Bird”. This began her bird obsession. In addition to her own parrots, Daria was actively involved with the local Bird Club and various international organizations for bird protection. A past board member of the Bird Lover’s Club of Pembroke Pines and the Miami Audubon Society, she also helped fund “Parrots in Peril’ which aired on National Geographic about the the illegal capture of feral parrots.

Daria lived life to the fullest, dining with her many friends, caring for her beloved parrots, or visiting with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved hosting her family and friends in the Catskills where she and Richard had a lakefront home. When Richard died in 2019 and Daria’s autoimmune disease worsened, she did not slow down and continued to travel to see family and attend bird club cruises. Daria leaves behind her daughter, Rachel Feinstein and son-in-law John Currin, daughter Lisa Feinstein and son-in-law Russ Kaplan, six grandchildren; and sisters in law Jackie Keller, Wendy Keller, Beverley Feigelman and Ellen Feinstein; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 29th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Gordon memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo Kendall, 5900 SW 77 Avenue, Miami, FL 33143. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Daria to Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, 1279 N.E. 79th Street Causeway, Miami, FL. 33138.
