Late dunk helps No. 21 Indiana beat No. 1 Purdue

Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 25 points and

Jalen Hood-Schifino delivered the clinching basket on a dunk with 2 seconds left as No. 21 Indiana beat No. 1 Purdue 79-74 on Saturday.

Zach Edey finished with 33 points and 18 rebounds for Purdue.

The Hoosiers (16-7, 7-5 Big Ten) have won both of their home games against their archrival under second-year coach Mike Woodson. This was Indiana’s fourth total win at Assembly Hall over a top-ranked team.

A roaring, raucous crowd that stayed on its feet most of the game wasted no time storming the court after the final buzzer sounded. HoodSchifi­no had 16 points for the Hoosiers, who have won six of seven.

The Boilermake­rs

(22-2, 11-2) trailed by 16 points in the first half. They had held 24 consecutiv­e opponents to 70 or fewer points before the Hoosiers ended that streak.

No. 2 Tennessee 46, No. 25 Auburn 43: Josiah-Jordan James had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead host Tennessee in a game in which every point was difficult and nothing flowed.

“Both teams played as hard as they could,” said Tennessee coach Rick Barnes. “Every possession was a grind.”

The Volunteers (19-4, 8-2 SEC) shot just 27% from the field and 9.5% from the 3-point line. They were recovering from a Wednesday loss to Florida in which they shot 28%.

Tennessee had a 47-42 edge on the boards and 15-8 on the offensive glass.

AThe Tigers (17-6, 7-3) were led by Johni Broome with 11 points and nine rebounds and K.D. Johnson off the bench with 10 points. Auburn managed only 24% from the field and 11% from the 3-point line.

No. 4 Alabama 79, LSU 69: Noah Clowney and Rylan Griffen led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points each to carry No. 4 Alabama to a victory over host LSU.

Nimari Burnett and Mark Sears each had 13 points and Brandon Miller had 11 for Alabama. The Tigers have lost 10 straight.

Derek Fountain led

LSU with a career-high 26 points. Cam Hayes came off the bench and scored 15 points.

Virginia Tech 74, No. 6 Virginia 68: Sean Pedulla scored 22 points to lead host Virginia

Tech. He hit 6 of 13 shots from the floor and made 8 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Hokies (1410, 4-8 Atlantic Coast Conference). Tech never trailed in registerin­g its biggest win of the season. Jayden Gardner’s 20 points led Virginia (17-4, 9-3), which saw its sevengame winning streak snapped.

No. 10 Texas 69,

No. 7 Kansas St. 66: Christian Bishop scored all 14 of his points in the second half, including the go-ahead lay-in with 37 seconds to go, and visiting No. 10 Texas rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to knock off No. 7 Kansas State.

Sir’Jabari Rice also had 14 points for the Longhorns, and his two free throws with nine seconds left forced the Wildcats into needing a threepoint­er to send the game to overtime.

No. 13 Iowa State

AAAA68, No. 8 Kansas 53: Jaren Holmes led host Iowa State with 15 points in their upset win. Osun Osunniyi added 13 for the Cyclones (16-6, 7-3 Big 12), who stayed within at least a game of frontrunni­ng Texas in the conference standings. Jalen Wilson led the Jayhawks (18-5, 6-4) with 26 points for his sixth straight with at least 20. The Cyclones led for all but 1:14 of the game.

The Jayhawks dropped to 3-4 during a stretch in which six of its seven opponents were ranked.

No. 11 Baylor 89, Texas Tech 62: Jalen Bridges had 18 points with eight rebounds for host Baylor, and big man Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua played for the first time since a gruesome knee injury last season.

Bridges scored 16 of his points in the second half, including two three-point plays and another layup in an early 14-2 run run that extended Baylor’s lead to 14 points. He added a 3-pointer soon after that.

Freshman Keyonte George scored 17 points for the Bears (17-6, 6-4 Big 12).

No. 14 Marquette 60, Butler 52: While Marquette has surged into Big East title contention due to the efficiency of its offense, the Golden Eagles showed they also can win with defense.

Tyler Kolek had 13 points and eight assists as host Marquette overcame

AAa sluggish performanc­e and defeated Butler for its fifth consecutiv­e victory.

Marquette (19-5, 11-2 Big East) has won 10 of their past 11 games, and its only loss in that stretch was an 80-76 decision at Xavier on Jan. 15.

Oklahoma State 79, No. 15 TCU 73: Senior forward Kalib Boone scored a career-high 25 points and host Oklahoma State blew a 19-point second-half lead before recovering to beat depleted TCU.

Caleb Asberry added 19 points and John-Michael Wright had 17 for Oklahoma State (14-9, 5-5 Big

12). The Cowboys have won three straight and five of six to move back into the conversati­on for a potential NCAA tournament berth.

No. 19 FAU 67, Charlotte 52: Vladislav Goldin had 15 points and No. 19 Florida Atlantic earned a victory over host Charlotte, just two days after the Owls had their 20game win streak snapped. Alijah Martin added 11 points and Brandon Weatherspo­on had 10 for the Owls, who outscored Charlotte 37-21 in the second half. No. 24 UConn 68, Georgetown 62: Adama Sanogo and Tristen Newton each scored 15 and Alex Karaban knocked down two late 3-pointers as UConn (18-6, 7-6 Big East) held on for a win at last-place Georgetown (18-6, 7-6 Big East).
