“he who honestly gives of himself without expectation deserves the utmost consideration from those receptive of his kindness.” In 1980 Dr. De Gásperi was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the honor medical society, and was initiated into the Iron Arrow Society, the highest honor attained at the University of Miami. He received the George Paff Award for Teaching Excellence in 1986, the Teaching Award from the University of Miami in 1995 and again in 2001, shortly before his retirement.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Dr. De Gásperi to the Hydrocephalus Association, hydroassoc.org. - Doris Colelli LaCombe passed away on March 11, 2023, at the age of 99. Her home for over 50 years on 105th Street in Miami Shores, where she and her husband Raymond lived, was always open to her friends and neighbors. A graduate of Columbia University and lifelong member of P.E.O., Doris moved to Miami in 1962 with her husband Ray to work as an analyst and economist at the former First Federal Savings and Loan. After her successful career in banking, she turned her efforts toward becoming a gardener. Since Ray was very particular about his food, they always shared the “cheffing” responsibilities. Her favorite expression was “Raymooond!”, which would reverberate throughout their home. We want to thank her loving caregivers, Joane, Angeli, and Prima, and her dear friends, Arthur and Lois, all of whom were there until the end of Doris’ long and beautiful life. Catholic burial will be in New York City. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 12:30 pm in Miami Shores. Please call (305) 448-9022 for details.
