George was a loving husband, father, and grandfathe­r who cherished his family above all else. His loyalty, generosity, and leadership will never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father, George Albert LeVasser. He is survived by: his wife Connie, son George Jr., daughter Elizabeth Thompson, sister Ellen Thompson, brother Phillip LeVasser, mother Theresa LeVasser, and grandchild­ren Alex Thompson and Ashley Parratore.

He leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him for years to come.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful help and care provided by South Miami Hospital. The viewing will be at Gregg L. Mason Funeral Home on May 19, 2023 from 4-7pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Martha Church on May 20, 2023, at 1pm, where friends and family will gather to celebrate George’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in George’s memory.

Howard Sanford, M.D. was born in Floral Park, New York in 1933. A graduate of Columbia School of Pharmacy, he went on to obtain his MD from Northweste­rn University Medical School. Internship was at Philadelph­ia General Hospital and residency at the University of Michigan. In 1962, he became a “fellow” in cardiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

He practiced internal medicine and cardiology in North Miami Beach for 30 years which was interrupte­d by a two year tour of duty in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He served as Lieutenant Colonel and Cardiology Consultant
