She had her dream wedding in Palm Beach. Now Sofia Vergara is suddenly single
The birthday post was a dead giveaway.
The Internet went nuts after Joe Manganiello wished his wife Sofia Vergara a straightforward birthday message on July 10 with a blurry throwback photo of the two.
“¡¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!” OK, so at least he got the accent in the right place, inverted the exclamation points and added the tilde.
But there was no romantic poetry involved, no “I love you” — not even a heart emoji — so doom-scrollers began thinking the worst, which turned out to be true.
“Am I the only one who doesn’t like the way it sounds?” questioned one. “Sofia’…. not even ‘My love, My beloved wtf.’”
“Something is off,” opined another suspicious fan. “Cold message for her and has two stories about his dog’s birthday. And Sofia has not even said thank you.”
The online detectives were spot on. Exactly a week later, Vergara and Manganiello announced they were done.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple shared in a statement to Page
Six. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
This news, while sad, isn’t exactly surprising to those who have been tailing Vergara on Instagram for any length of time. The “Modern Family” star’s feed is flooded with selfies posing on vacation, parties and events, with the “Magic Mike” hunk nowhere in sight.
An insider close to the situation confirmed to Page Six that the split has been a long time coming.
“Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
What a difference seven years make. It feels kinda sorta like yesterday when the power couple (and their entourage) descended on Palm Beach for their over the top wedding at The Breakers.
The Colombiana, 51, and Pittsburgh native, 46, exchanged vows under the goldcovered, hand-painted ceiling in the resort’s Mediterranean Ballroom. Guests included JLo, Reese Witherspoon and Channing Tatum.
Why did they choose South Florida for the location? It’s possible because Vergara, who started out modeling in Miami Beach in the ‘90s, has relatives who live in the area and has since visited often and posted throwback pics of her time here.
We’re thinking we’ll see even a lot more of her now, and we can safely speak for everyone in the 305 area code that no one will take issue with that at all.
