Judith George January 28, 1943 - October 27, 2023
Coral Gables, Florida -In the early morning of October 27, 2023, surrounded by loving family and friends, Judith Louise George’s soul rose gently to Heaven. This time of year was special to Judy. She was a uniquely thoughtful and fabulous hostess, who loved to gather with her family to celebrate the holiday season. Always elegant and fashionable, Judy created life experiences that were pure sophistication, a reflection of her incredible talents.
Judy cared deeply for her community. She was a dedicated patron of the arts and was involved with organizations such as the Young Patronesses of the Opera and served on the Board of Vizcaya for a number of years. She was treasured by countless friends, who valued Judy for the qualities she exemplified: genuine kindness, generosity, graciousness, and joie de vivre! Her family will miss her most of all.
Judy met her husband, Phillip, in Washington, D.C. in 1971. Judy was working on Capitol Hill, as an Administrative Assistant to Guy Vander Jagt, Congressman from Michigan. Their love story started with two small words that changed their lives forever - “follow me.” Phillip had lost his way to a party, and upon learning he was lost, Judy confidently quipped, “follow me.” He followed her for the next 53 years. Two souls bonded as one in life! Their marriage was a true partnership; they worked in perfect tandem. Later in life, Judy found new joy and purpose as “Gigi” to three beautiful grandchildren. She loved spending Sunday afternoons cooking with them and making memories as a family.
Summers in Maine were a favorite time for Judy. During these months, she made “Judy’s Jams,” where many waited in line to purchase them in support of the community library.
At the onset of the holiday season, let all those whose lives were touched by Judy be grateful for her leaving our world a more beautiful place. Judy is survived by her husband, Phillip George, son, Phillip George, Jr, daughter-in-law, Hikari George, daughter, JoAnne George, granddaughter, Melanie George, grandson, Phillip George III, grandson, Thomas George, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and encourages friends and family to perform an act of kindness in honor of Judy’s life.
If love alone could keep her alive, Judy would have lived forever!
