Ole Miss takes down Penn State in Peach Bowl; Maryland routs Auburn

Jaxson Dart threw three touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown as No. 11 Ole Miss defeated No. 10 Penn State 38-25 in the Peach Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Atlanta.

Dart completed 25 of 40 passes for 379 yards and had two touchdown throws to Caden Prieskorn, who finished with 10 catches for 136 yards. Dart also connected on a TD pass to Quinshon Judkins, who rushed for 106 yards.

Tre Harris finished with seven catches and 134 yards for the Rebels (11-2), as Ole Miss recorded 11 wins for the first time in program history. The Rebels also had the second 10-win season in school history.

Ole Miss, which entered 15th in the country in total offense (455.4 yards per game), was even more productive, finishing with 540 yards against Penn State, which led the country in total defense (223.2).

Drew Allar passed for 295 yards and two touchdowns and Tyler Warren had five catches for 127 yards for the Nittany Lions (10-3), who had 510 yards.

Music City Bowl —

Maryland 31, Auburn 13:

Billy Edwards Jr. passed for one touchdown and ran for another in place of record-setting quarterbac­k Taulia Tagovailoa to lead the Terrapins past the Tigers in Nashville, Tenn.

Edwards, a redshirt sophomore who attempted 10 passes during the regular season, helped the Terps (8-5) to a 21-0 lead after one quarter. Edwards completed 6 of 20 passes for 126 yards and also ran for a teamhigh 50 yards on 13 carries.

Tagovailoa opted out of the bowl game after setting almost every Maryland passing record and becoming the Big Ten’s all-time passing yardage leader.

The Terps also used freshman Cameron Edge, who completed 4 of 5 passes for 82 yards.

Auburn starter Payton Thorne completed 13 of 27 passes for 84 yards. Freshman Hank Brown completed 7 of 9 passes for 132 yards in reserve.

It was the fourth consecutiv­e bowl loss for Auburn (6-7), whose last bowl victory was a 63-14 rout of Purdue in the 2018 Music City Bowl.

Cotton Bowl — No. 9 Missouri 14, No. 7 Ohio State 3:

The Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Buckeyes in Arlington, Texas. The Buckeyes (11-2) played most of the game with third-string quarterbac­k Lincoln Kienholz, a freshman, and managed only a first-quarter field goal.

Missouri (11-2) took a 7-3 lead on a 7-yard run by Cody Schrader five seconds into the fourth quarter to complete a 95-yard drive. The Tigers then used 13 plays to go 91 yards, capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass from Brady Cook to Luther Burden III with 5:12 to play. Cook was 11 for 18 passing for 128 yards, and Schrader ran for 128 yards on 29 carries.

The Buckeyes were without starting quarterbac­k Kyle McCord, who transferre­d to Syracuse, and receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who opted not to play and is expected to be a high firstround pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Sun Bowl — No. 16 Notre Dame 40, No. 16 Oregon State 8:

Steve Angeli passed for three touchdowns in his first career start as the Fighting Irish shellacked the Beavers in El Paso, Texas. Angeli, who drew the start after Sam Hartman opted out of the game, stood out by completing 14 of 18 passes for 212 yards for Notre Dame (10-3). Jordan Faison had five receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown and Jadarian Price rushed for 106 yards and a score for the Fighting Irish.

Ben Gulbranson was 16-of-27 passing for 180 yards, one touchdown and one intercepti­on for Oregon State (8-5), which lost its third straight game.

Gator Bowl — No. A

22 Clemson 38, Kentucky 35:

Phil Mafah rushed for a Gator Bowlrecord four touchdowns, including the decisive score with 17 seconds left, to help the Tigers post a come-from-behind

victory over the Wildcats at Jacksonvil­le. Barrett Carter had two key fourth-quarter takeaways for Clemson (9-4), which won its fifth straight game. Cade Klubnik was 30-of-41 passing for 264 yards and one intercepti­on. Barion Brown accounted for three scores, including a kickoff return, for Kentucky (7-6), which lost for the sixth time in eight games.

Liberty Bowl —

Memphis 36, Iowa State 26:

Seth Henigan passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Tigers past the Cyclones in Memphis. Henigan completed 24 of 34 passes for 364 yards with no intercepti­ons against an Iowa State (7-6) defense that had 16 picks during the regular season. Blake Watson rushed for 107 yards on 15 carries, and Roc Taylor had eight catches for 102 yards for Memphis (10-3).

Former Florida quarterbac­k Jalen Kitna has committed to join coach Trent Dilfer’s program

at UAB, ESPN reported. Kitna was kicked off the team at Florida in November 2022 after an arrest on felony charges that were later dropped. Kitna was facing five felony counts of possessing and distributi­ng child pornograph­y before agreeing to a plea deal in July. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeano­r counts of disorderly conduct. He avoided jail time and was placed on six months of probation for each count. He did not have to register as a sex offender.

Texas: Arch Manning A

plans to return to Texas for his sophomore season in 2024, even if Longhorns starting quarterbac­k Quinn Ewers opts to come back to Austin instead of entering the NFL draft.

Texas offensive coordinato­r Kyle Flood said Manning is showing progress with increased practice reps during bowl preparatio­n. During the 2023 season, Maalik Murphy was the primary backup to Ewers and Manning filled the No. 3 role.
