LET EX-FELONS VOTE

It’s like a seesaw. I did not like the way that Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis campaigned. Then I liked the way he attempted to work in a bipartisan manner in his appointments.

Now, I am saddened that he does not understand the nature of Amendment 4, which allows convicted felons who have served their sentence to register to vote. DeSantis advocates sending this to the state Legislature, which is a death sentence in itself.

The people have overwhelmingly approved of this amendment, and it is not up to legislators, who may or may not approve of it, to vote on its merits.

Re the Dec. 12 editorial, “Florida lawmakers take the lead in combating carbon emissions — and get it right:”

The bipartisan bill is the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. It is sponsored by two Republicans and three Democrats, proving that our elected officials are capable of working together and compromising to find solutions to some of our most urgent problems.

After reading President Trump’s tweets, we can LOL, after which we can WFD — weep for democracy.
