The Jan. 14 Open Mic featured four letters referring to the impasse that has closed the government. Of course, the solution is obvious, but none of the letters note that the only impediment is U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.

One man stands between rational solution and ongoing insanity. Let’s place blame where it belongs, on the great wall of Mitch. Are his constituen­ts sleeping well?

Perhaps the Miami Dolphins ownership can take a course of action similar to the leadership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the Oscars). The Academy will go without a host for the upcoming awards ceremony.

Similarly, the Dolphins should not name a new head coach. They don’t need one. They can get by with all the assistant coaches performing their jobs, because everyone knows the last string of head coaches did not do their job.
