Brown’s scoring spurt leads Auburn over Texas A&M

Bryce Brown scored all but two of his 22 points in the first half and No. 14 Auburn routed Texas A&M 85-66 on Wednesday night at College Station, Texas.

The Tigers (13-3, 2-1 Southeaste­rn Conference) won on the road for the first time in league play this season. They dominated the Aggies (7-8, 1-3) from the start and never looked back.

Brown scored 18 consecutiv­e points for the Tigers — and outscored the Aggies 18-10 by himself during that span — late in the first half to stake Auburn to a doubledigi­t lead it didn’t relinquish.

Kansas State 74, No. 20 Oklahoma 61: Barry Brown scored 25 points and Dean Wade added 20 to help the Wildcats (13-4, 3-2 Big 12) beat the host Sooners (13-4, 2-3). It was Kansas State’s second straight road win over a ranked team — the Wildcats won at Iowa State last Saturday. It was Wade’s second game back since missing six with a torn tendon in his right foot.

No. 23 Iowa 89, Penn State 82: Luka Garza matched a season-high 22 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds and the Hawkeyes (15-3, 4-3 Big Ten) edged the Nittany Lions (7-11, 0-7).

West Virginia 73, No. 18 Iowa State 64: Lucky Rudd and Tynice Martin combined for 42 points, 16 in the fourth quarter when they made 12 of 14 free throws, and the host Mountainee­rs (12-4, 3-2 Big 12) pulled away to beat the Cyclones (13-4, 3-2).

No. 20 Rutgers 65, Purdue 63 (OT): Stasha Carey made three free throws in the final nine seconds of overtime as the host Scarlet Knights (14-3, 6-0) won their ninth straight game, after blowing a 14-point late in regulation to beat the Boilermake­rs (13-6, 4-2).

Northweste­rn 75, No. 25 Indiana 69: Lindsey Pulliam scored a seasonhigh 27 points, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah had the 30th double-double of her career and the Wildcats (10-7, 3-3 Big Ten) defeated the host Hoosiers (15-3, 4-2).

STATE SCHOOLS

North Florida 87, Stetson 87: Garett Sams scored 18 points, Wajid Aminu added 14 and the Ospreys (9-10, 2-1 Atlantic Sun) pulled away in the second half to beat the host Hatters (4-14, 0-3).

ELSEWHERE

Oklahoma State: Guard Michael Weathers and forwards Maurice Calloo and Kentreviou­s Jones were kicked off the team because of a violation of rules.

“We have a standard of behavior that we expect from everyone in our program, and we’re going to move forward with the people who want to abide by those standards,” coach Mike Boynton said in a statement.
