FREEBEE SHUTTLES
three million votes, it means the people did not choose you.

Miami-Dade’s freebie shuttle service, though not funded is not exclusively by the half-penny sales tax, is still a misuse of taxpayer money. According to the article, the shuttles are serving the affluent neighborhoods of Pinecrest, Coral Gables and Dadeland.
Picking up someone who lives four blocks from the station so they would not have to take up a parking space is outrageous. There was sufficient land around the Dadeland North Station to build an additional, much needed parking facility. I passed by recently, and the garage was completely full.
Instead, every area around Dadeland North has been given over to private residential and commercial development. The shuttles should be used in under-served areas where people without cars are forced to wait for buses that are late, broken or that pass them by.
All public transportation funding, no matter the source, should be used to develop an effective bus and rail system that serves the needs of the general public and not the privileged few.
