Weston-based Ultimate Software tops Fortune’s ‘Best Workplaces in Tech’ list
Weston-based Ultimate Software was named the No. 1 technology employer in the nation for 2019 by Fortune magazine — again.
This is the fourth year in a row that Ultimate Software topped the list of “Best Workplaces in Technology.”
The ranking was based on anonymous feedback from a total of 220,000 employees across the United States.
Vivian Maza, chief people officer at Ultimate Software, said the company strives to create “a positive, collaborative workplace that fuels creativity and ingenuity.”
Ultimate Software, which specializes in software for the human resources industry, was founded in 1990 by Scott Scherr, who is still CEO and set out to create a “people first” culture.
The company has 5,200 employees worldwide, including more than 1,650 in Weston, according to a spokeswoman.
The remaining tech employers on this year’s top 10 list are: Workday, Salesforce, Cisco, RedHat, Hubspot, Zillow Group, SAP America, Adobe and Intuit, according to Fortune.
Ulimate Software’s many employee benefits include: fully paid healthcare premiums for employees and their families, including same-sex married couples; company stock upon hiring; 45 percent match on 401(k) retirement savings; paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave; and unlimited paid time off plus three paid volunteer service days.
For its third quarter ended Sept. 30, Ultimate reported earnings of $17.1 million on revenues of nearly $288 million. The company’s 2018 earnings are scheduled to be released Feb. 5
Ultimate’s stock closed at $268.45, up $5.19 or 1.96 percent on Friday in Nasdaq trading.
The “Best Workplaces” list is compiled by Fortune and research partner Great Place to Work, a San Francisco-based organization that identifies and certifies top workplaces based on employee feedback.
Great Place to Work analyzed survey responses on daily work experiences that included company values, innovation, career development, and effectiveness of managers and leaders.
