TRUMP IN 2020

This divide exists equally in both parties, yet all the focus has been on Democrats.

In truth, no one likes incentives, but until Congress does something to restrict their use, states or cities that eschew incentives, as Florida has the past two years, have unilateral­ly disarmed and are at distinct competitiv­e disadvanta­ge in the quest for jobs.

Re Fabiola Santiago’s Feb. 17 column, “Trump’s Miami visit isn’t for Venezuela. It’s to stoke socialism fear that wins elections.”

South Florida in general is definitely not Trumpfrien­dly. Clinton voters in the last election will most likely vote for Democrat candidates once again. Just because you may feel Trump was a terrible choice for president, doesn’t mean that everything he does has an evil purpose.

Criticizin­g socialism in the State of the Union address or in South Florida is a good thing.

If he thinks it’s a good 2020 campaign message, that’s fine with me.

While highly unlikely, if Sens. Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders suddenly become more anti-socialist than Trump and promote democracy and freedom in Latin America, then more power to them.
