PITTS ON POINT

Re Leonard Pitts’ Feb. 20 column, “Remember when we used to think big? Where did that America go?” This is another example of Pitts’ excellent writing.

He is far and away the best columnist in America today. His column was on point. The country has changed due to the rich oligarchy that controls America today. Progressiv­e thought is now an outlier instead of the norm.

Mr. Pitts, keep the fight going.

Dear Bernie Sanders, Since you have decided to run for president again, I want you at this time to get your historical facts right.

Your movement has been labeled as being socialist. In your frequent references to the Scandinavi­an countries, and northern Europe in general, you fail to identify the party which, over the past 70some years, has been responsibl­e for the social changes in that region.

The Social Democrat Party is a far cry from socialism, which is often compared to the backbone of communism, and rightfully so. Socialism/communism has never played any role in post-World War II northern Europe.
