Gray leads UM women over Syracuse; top men upset

Junior Mykea Gray scored 20 points to lead the host University of Miami women’s team to a 77-62 victory over Syracuse on Sunday.

Kelsey Marshall added 19 points, while Destiny Harden paced Miami (10-6, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) in rebounding with six boards.

The Hurricanes added 16 steals and six blocks to the team stat line, besting the Orange (8-7, 2-2 ) in both categories.

WOMEN’S TOP 20

No. 2 Oregon 71, No. 18 Arizon 64: Sabrina Ionescu had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for her 22nd triple-double, extending her NCAA record and leading the visiting Ducks (14-2, 3-1 Pac-12) over the Wildcats (12-3, 2-3).

Arizona State 55, No. 3 Oregon State 47: Ja'Tavia Tapley scored 14 points and the host Sun Devils (13-4, 3-2 Pac-12) got their second straight upset with a win over the Beaves (15-1, 3-1). The win finished a memorable weekend for the Sun Devils, who also beat No. 2 Oregon 72-66 on Friday night.

No. 6 Baylor 94, Oklahoma State 48: NaLyssa Smith had career highs with 30 points and 15 rebounds, powering the =Bears to over the Cowgirls (10-5, 1-2).

Baylor (13-1, 2-0 Big 12) has won 47 consecutiv­e home games, now the longest streak in the nation.

No. 7 Louisville 75, Wake Forest 61: Dana Evans scored 20 points and the host Cardinals (16-1, 5-0 ACC) beat the Demon Deacons (10-6,

3-2).

No. 8 UCLA 65, Colorado 62: Michaela Onyenwere had 19 points and seven rebounds, and the visiting Bruins (16-0, 5-0 Pac-12) held on agains the Buffaloes (13-3, 2-3).

No. 9 North Carolina State 90, Notre Dame 56: Elissa Cunane recorded her ninth double-double of the season as the hot-shooting Wolfpack (15-1, 4-1 ACC) beat the Fighting Irish (6-11, 1-4).

No. 11 Florida State 78, North Carolina 64: Nausia Woolfolk scored 21 points and Nicki Ekhomu had 20, leading host FSU (15-2, 4-2 ACC) over the

Tar Heels (12-4, 3-2).

No. 14 Kentucky 65, Florida 45: Rhyne Howard had 22 points after a slow start, and the visiting Wildcats (14-2, 3-1 Southeaste­rn Conference) routed the Gators (11-6, 2-2).

MEN’S TOP 25

Purdue 71, No. 8 Michigan State 42: Trevion Williams scored 16 points and the host Boilermake­rs (10-7, 4-3 Big Ten) relied on a staunch defense to upset the Spartans (13-4, 5-1)

Minnesota 75, No. 19 Michigan 67: Daniel Oturu scored 30 points and the host Gophers (9-7, 3-3 Big Ten) went on a late 11-0 run to beat the Wolverines (11-5, 2-3).

No. 21 Memphis 68, South Florida 64: Precious Achiuwa had 22 points and 11 rebounds and the Tigers (13-3, 2-1 American Athletic Conference) rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to beat the host Bulls (8-9, 1-3).

No. 23 Wichita State 89, UConn 86 (2OT): The Shockers (15-1, 3-0 AAC) blew a nine-point lead in the final minute of regulation but outlasted the host Huskies (10-6, 1-3) in double overtime.
