Favre says Packers QB Rodgers will finish career elsewhere

- From Miami Herald Wire Services

Packers legend

said Wednesday that current Green Bay quarterback told him he was, “surprised,’’ by the team’s selection of former Utah quarterback

with the 26th overall draft pick.

“He was, let’s just say surprised, they went that direction.” Rodgers said on NFL Network’s “Rich Eisen Show.” “They don’t draft any weapons that can help immediately. That sends a disrespect message to Aaron. He has every right to be disappointed, if he is.’’

Favre, who was cast aside by the Packers after 16 seasons for Rodgers, believes Rodgers will follow his path and also won’t finish his career in Green Bay. “I think Aaron will finish somewhere else, that’s my gut,’’ said Favre, who played his final three seasons with the Jets and Vikings. “I guarantee you it has the wheels turning in Aaron’s mind. If that’s the case, there’s a chip on his shoulder toward the organization that was otherwise not there.”

has reduced his salary to $0 and other NFL employees will be taking pay cuts or furloughs due to the coronavirus pandemic. Goodell, who makes upward of $30 million a year from salaries and bonuses, voluntarily had his salary reduced this month, a source told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “We hope that business conditions will improve and permit salaries to be returned to their current levels, although we do not know when that will be possible,” Goodell said.

As part of the All-In-Challenge Tampa quarterback donated a package that includes tickets for four to his first Bucs home game, his game jersey and cleats, and a postgame dinner or workout with Brady. The package raised $800,000.
