GETTING A PASS?

-

Re Jay Weaver’s Dec. 11 story, “Rapper Lil Wayne pleads guilty to gun charge. He flew to Miami with a gold-plated pistol:” Lil Wayne was arrested for carrying a gold-plated firearm and drugs on his chartered jet to Miami. It was interesting to note that the federal charges only deal with unlawful possession of a firearm, even though the rapper even thoguh law-enforcement agents reported finding not only the gun, but also bullets, suspected cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, heroin, painkillers and prescription-strength cough syrup often used to make a concoction called “Purple Drank.”

Why was he not charged with possession of various illegal drugs? And he suggests seeking a pardon from President Trump? There are impressionable kids who look up to Lil Wayne, and only a short sentence will see him received as a superstar in prison. What kind of message are we sending? I sure hope the judge asks why Lil Wayne is not facing drug charges and revisits the entire arrest.
