TRUCK RANCH? NUDGE US IN 2022

- @YousefMunyyer

The Redland Agricultural Area of Southwest MiamiDade County is supposed to be a natural area interspersed with homes, groves, nurseries, ranches and farms. But instead of a vast area of tropical vegetation, there is a burgeoning truck-depot industry. Twoor five-acre properties that were once homes to guava or avocado groves are now filled with 18-wheelers, some of which leak toxic fluids into the soil and aquifer.

What are these trucks there for — hauling agricultural products, or is these properties just moneymaking ventures that to

The answer can be found in the long list of ordinance violations of these persistent truck depots.

But this sparks more questions: Why have years passed while these properties continue to operate?

Not nearly enough is being done to protect the Redland from this growing business. The county must not only find ways to efficiently close illegal truck depots, but also incentivize the establishment of legal ones.

Our memories are short, so I trust the media will remind us, come re-election time, who supported President Trump’s lies and misinformation by their tacit silence.

DISMISS TRUMP

A free and fair democratic country is only as strong as its sense of truth and moral values. When those in power find ways to undermine them with blatant lies, then that country becomes sick and dies.

As with the pandemic sweeping our world, the United States teeters on the edge of a devastating and devouring disease. The vaccine is simple: Remove Trump from office now.
