PLANE POLLUTION

-

Re the Jan. 10 story “Northeast Miami-Dade cities challenging new flight paths over their neighborhoods:” I lived almost 20 years in Davie under Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport’s flight pattern.

There is the noise pollution issue, although this is mitigated by living in an air conditioned home with windows closed.

What is unavoidable is soot. Once I moved to another location, I understood the soot collecting on the screens and balcony was from the plane engines, not to mention the griminess of the building’s exterior paint.

The proposed change of flight lanes to a more concentrated one will certainly increase the dissemination of soot over the affected properties in this corridor.
