DUTY TO CARE
As a former military combat officer, and a gun owner, I strongly support any efforts to remove anything at all like assault weapons from civilian hands.
These weapons are designed to kill people. They are not weapons for hunters, or even home selfdefense.
Any hunter who needs a 30-round clip to kill a deer ought not to be in the woods. Any hunter who thinks an AR-15 will do more than irritate a bear ought not to be in the woods.
It is it hard to believe the Founders contemplated civilians arming themselves with weapons of mass murder while patrolling the streets. That’s insane. If individuals want to join a well-regulated militia, let them join the National Guard.
It’s long past time to enact sensible gun regulation, which enjoys overwhelming public support. Congress needs to do its duty. Failure to do so would be a disgrace.
