Bobby Unser ,abeloved three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and part of the only pair of brothers to win “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” has died. He was 87.

He died Sunday at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of natural causes, Indianapolis Motor Speedway said.

Unser was one of the greatest racers at the speedway, capturing the race in 1968, 1975 and 1981.

“He is part of the Mount Rushmore of Indy,” said Dario Franchitti, another three-time Indy 500 winner.

Younger brother Al Unser is one of only three drivers to win the Indy 500 four times — 1970, 1971, 1978 and 1987. The Unser family tradition stretched to Al Unser’s son, Al Unser Jr., who won the Indy 500 in 1992 and 1994.

UM BASEBALL

A seven-run deficit proved too much to overcome, as the University of Miami dropped the series finale at Boston College.

The Canes (24-15, 15-14 ACC) got within two runs, but could not catch up against a BC team that took its first series over Miami since 2013 with Sunday’s 11-6 victory.

“We’ve got to continue to play,” coach Gino DiMare said. “We’ve got three more weekends to play and then the ACC tournament. We are absolutely not playing the way the game needs to be played. If we’re going to be successful here, we’ve got to do a better job in all phases.”

Boston College (19-22, 8-19 ACC) got off to a good start in Sunday’s series finale, as top prospect Sal Frelick led off the game with a triple and scored on an RBI single from second baseman

Cody Morissette.

On Saturday, a strong start from right-hander

Alex McFarlane set the tone for Miami’s 2-1 win. McFarlane made the most of his first weekend start as a Hurricane, tossing five shutout innings. The right-hander scattered three hits and struck out a career-high five Eagles to earn the win in his longest collegiate outing.

On Friday, UM lost 13-0.
