& 146th Preakness Stakes The second leg of Thoroughbr­ed racing’s prestigiou­s Triple Crown goes off today at Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course for the 146th Preakness Stakes. Run at 1 3/16 miles, it’s the shortest of the three races but, coming two weeks after the Kentucky Derby, offers the shortest rest period. The horse that manages to win these first two races will then go for the Triple Crown on the 1 1/2-mile distance of the Belmont Stakes in three weeks in New York.

to the Stanley Cup playoffs, which gets going tonight with this Conference Quarterfin­als tilt between the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals. Under this season’s temporary realignmen­t due to travel restrictio­ns between the U.S. and Canada, the top four teams in each division make the playoffs, with the first two rounds being played in a divisional format. All rounds through the Finals in June are best-of-seven.

8PM (LIFE) MOVIE Secrets on Sorority Row Michelle is excited to learn that her daughter, Quinn, is pledging the same sorority Michelle and her best friend, Stacey, pledged back in their college days, especially after Quinn becomes tight friends with a fellow pledge. When Michelle starts getting some mysterious and very disturbing letters, however, she frets that a dark secret she shares with Stacy is about to be revealed in this 2021 thriller. Kristi McKarnie, Lauren Buglioli and Kate Edmonds star.

8PM (HBO) MOVIE The Personal History of David Copperfiel­d Emmy-winning “Veep” creator and executive producer Armando Iannucci puts his distinctiv­ely irreverent yet masterful stamp on Charles Dickens’ classic 1850 novel, which Iannucci co-wrote, directed and produced. Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionair­e”) stars as the title character, who yearns to become both a gentleman and an author. The deluxe ensemble also includes Hugh Laurie, Tilda Swinton, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, Gwendoline Christie and Anna Maxwell Martin. Although the coronaviru­s pandemic played havoc with the film’s internatio­nal theatrical release, it received generally warm reviews.
