Sarasota, Florida - Toni Tomasello Charbonnet passed away peacefully at home, on May 26, 2021. Toni was a native Floridian and was born in Bartow, Florida, on October 11, 1946. She graduated from Graham-Eckes Palm Beach Academy and moved on to Florida State University where she achieved a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. While attending FSU, Toni studied for a summer in Spain and a year in Florence. Her year in Florence was especially memorable as it was the “year of the flood” (1966). While studying in Europe, Toni fell in love with travelling. Ultimately, Toni and her husband, Loys, travelled the world together culminating in owning and living in a house, near Florence, in the center of Tuscany. She had established friendships throughout Italy. Toni manifested her love for travel in a career with the airlines both as a flight attendant and then working in management related to international travel. Later, Toni went into the Public Relations business and owned her own company, representing prestigious law firms, banks, KPMG, and British Airways. When Toni went back to school for her MBA at Barry University, she was rightfully proud of her 4.0. GPA. After retiring,

Toni conducted extensive genealogy research on the Tomasello family and contacted family members who were living in Italy. One of her favorite memories was going to meet her family in Italy.

Toni is survived by her loving husband (Loys, III) of 43-years, her stepdaughter (Caroline Helen) and stepson (Loys IV), her brother Michael Tomasello (Rita Svetlova) in Durham, NC, along with her nieces Travis Olivia and Chiara. She was predeceased by her parents William P. Tomasello (Sarah Duke).

Toni’s love for travel was infections and unstoppable. She was a voracious reader. Toni and Loys spent most of their life together in Coconut Grove, FL, where they enjoyed being on the water and exploring the Bahamas. Sharing a trip, the art, local culture, and cuisine were her joie de vivre.

We will miss Toni greatly. Per Toni’s specific wishes – she wanted no fanfare or big service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations at either meaningful non-profit below.
