Olson’s HR lifts A’s over Angels

Matt Olson homered for the second consecutiv­e game, James Kaprielian tossed six scoreless innings and the Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-0 on Tuesday to sweep a two-game series.

Kaprielian (5-3) scattered five hits and two walks, striking out seven. The rookie right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.65.

A day after two-way All-Star Shohei Ohtani blanked the A’s for six innings — only to see the bullpen allow a three-run homer following his departure — he was shut out at the plate, going 0 for 3 with a walk.

Royals 5, Brewers 2: After a three-game sweep in Cincinnati over the weekend to build a big lead in the NL Central Division, Milwaukee returned home and fell flat against last-place Kansas City.

Ryan O’Hearn and Jorge Soler homered for the Royals in a game that began four hours early to give Milwaukee fans a chance to watch their Bucks in the NBA Finals.

Red Sox 13, Blue Jayes 4: Hunter Renfroe hit a grand slam, Kike Hernandez drove in three runs with two homers and Boston snapped a two-game losing streak with a rout of Toronto at Buffalo, New York.

Mets 15, Reds 11 (11 INNINGS): Jeff McNeil hit a tiebreakin­g single in the 11th inning, Kevin Pillar added a three-run homer and New York went deep seven times in a win at Cincinnati.

Giants 7, Dodgers 2: Buster Posey and Wilmer Flores hit back-to-back homers in the first inning, Thairo Estrada had a key double in the seventh and San Francisco won at Los Angeles in the opener of a pivotal four-game series.
