CAUGHT IN A LIE

-

Trump-led Republicans in Congress will uniformly vote against the social benefits put forth by President Biden, such as paid family leave and more affordable childcare. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised as much. These will require a filibuster-proof, Democratonly bill passed into law through the process of reconciliation.

Republicans argue these basic benefits would increase our national debt too much, but they refuse to help pay for them by reversing the massive tax cuts to ultra-wealthy corporations and individuals initiated during theTrump administration.

Republicans argue they stand for individual freedom, but ignore the freedom that comes from being lifted from poverty or from oppressive debt despite hard work.

They also ignore the freedom for all to vote in their best interest by passing and protecting votesuppressing state laws that disproportionately target those who would overwhelmingly benefit from Biden’s social agenda.

The claim that today’s Republicans stand for individual freedom is a lie. – Arthur Pitchenik,
