Florida reported 2,821 more COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Thursday, according to Friday’s report to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on Miami Herald calculations of CDC data.

The Florida Department of Health will most likely add deaths to Thursday’s total. The last time the state saw no increase consistently, without backlogged deaths added later, was in early March of last year during the nascent days of the pandemic, according to CDC data supplied by the state.

In all, Florida has recorded at least 3,620,470 confirmed COVID cases and 57,711 deaths.

In the past seven days, on average, the state has added 186 deaths and

2,681 cases per day, according to Herald calculations of CDC data.

About 12,601,523 eligible Floridians — 58.7% of the state’s population — are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

The agency reported that every Florida county’s level of community transmission remained high.

In Miami-Dade County, about 2,014,553 people, or 74.1% of the county’s total population, are fully vaccinated.

In Broward County, about 1,218,989 (62.4%).

In Palm Beach County, about 886,401 (59.2%).

In Monroe County, about 51,207 (69%).

There were 3,257 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Florida, according to a Friday report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which compiled data from 255 Florida hospitals. The number of hospitalized COVID patients dropped by 96 from Thursday’s report. This continues a trend of decreasing hospitalizations.

COVID-19 patients occupied 5.83% of all inpatient beds in Friday’s report, compared to 6% in Thursday’s

report.

Of the people hospitalized in Florida, 896 people were in ICUs, a decrease of 29. That represents about 14.05% of the state’s ICU beds, compared to 14.55% from Thursday’s report.

Friday’s Miami-Dade County report said there were 342 COVID patients in the county’s hospitals on Thursday, a decrease of 37 from the previous day’s report. Of the 37 new COVID patients, 30 (81.08%) had not been vaccinated. ICU patients numbered 88, a decrease of 15 from the previous day.

Broward County’s Friday report said there were 334 COVID patients in the county’s hospitals, an increase of six from the previous day’s report.
