Report: QB Watson to meet with NFL officials

-

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will meet with NFL officials in Texas, a person familiar with the plans told The Associated Press on Monday.

Watson, who is facing 22 civil lawsuits from massage therapists accusing him of sexual misconduct, is scheduled to meet with the league representatives this week, according to the source.

Watson could be disciplined by the league, which is independently investigating whether the 26-year-old violated its personal-conduct policy. Commissioner Roger Goodell said on April 28 that there was no timeframe on any possible ruling on Watson.

“We have no update and will decline comment on that tweet,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an email to AP. “There’s no timetable as the review is active and ongoing.”

Watson signed a fully guaranteed $230 million contract in March with the Browns, who outbid several teams and have committed to the three-time Pro Bowl QB despite his ongoing legal situation. Two grand juries in Texas declined to indict Watson on criminal charges filed by the women, but the civil cases remain open.

Elsewhere: The remarkable game of musical chairs among big-name NFL analysts and announcers this offseason took another turn when Drew Brees addressed a report that he was “done” at NBC — and hinted at a possible return to the NFL. “Despite speculation from media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided,” Brees, 43, wrote in a post shared on Twitter. “I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on

business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the

above. I’ll let you know.”

The fourth-seeded Mavericks will face thirdseeded Golden State, beginning Wednesday.

Bowling: Stefanie Johnson, a graduate of Miami Palmetto High, won the PWBA Rockford Open Sunday at Rockford, Illinois. Johnson won the stepladder finals the hard way. She was the number five seed. She had to win four matches over four top-notch bowlers — Shannon O’Keefe, Kelly Kulick, Breanna Clemmer and Liz Kuhlkin — and she did. Johnson earned $20,000 in prize money. Her average for the three-day tournament was 218.57.

Soccer: Arsenal no longer has Champions League qualification in its own hands. Heading into the final round on Sunday, Tottenham occupies fourth place and just needs to beat already relegated Norwich to guarantee a top-four spot. … Huddersfield is one win away from returning to the Premier League. Horse racing: Kentucky Derby runner-up Epicenter was set as the 6-5 morning line favorite for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes, which will be run without Derby winner
