What hurricane supplies can you buy tax-free? Pet food is new on the list this year
Getting ready for hurricane season isn’t cheap.
To help, the state is again giving Floridians a tax break on supplies.
What’s covered? Merchandise includes batteries, generators and power banks. And this year some pet supplies — food, cat litter and waste-disposal bags — are included.
The 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs May 28-June 10 and covers brick-andmortar and online shopping.
Every year, Floridians are urged to get ready for the season — which begins June 1. This year, forecasters are predicting an active season with 14-21 named storms.
