Coral Gables, Florida Dr. Thomas Vincent Briggle, 70, Coral Gables, FL

Passed away on 12/11/22 after a short illness. Thomas, a native of Coral Gables, graduated from Christophe­r Columbus High School, then attended Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio with a B.S. Degree. He continued his education at the University of Miami receiving his Masters and Doctorate in Biochemist­ry. After completing his training he began employment at the University at the Department of Epidemiolo­gy and Public Health, Miller School of Medicine. His passion was science research where he was an integral part of the team that developed numerous chemothera­peutic agents especially Zebularine and Cytochlor. After many years Tom left academia for private business, working for USA Medical Services as Medical Director. He went on to create Sanus Health Corporatio­n becoming its Owner and President, located in Doral,

Fl. He remained in this position until his passing. He also remained on staff at UM Medical School. Tom was a member of Sigma X Scientific Research Society, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Division of Cell Growth. Tom was a lifelong member of the Riviera Country Club. One of his favorite pastimes was his hobby of playing the bass guitar. He perfected his skills and played in multiple local rock and roll bands, namely “Deck 52” and “Geezer”! He also had a special spot in his heart for animals, especially his cats. His parents Dr. Homer and Helen Briggle predecease­d him. Tom is survived by his wife of 25 years, Anastasia Webster Briggle, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom was an outstandin­g member of the community and will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening 12/15/22, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel 4600 SW 8th Street. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 12/16/22 at 1:00 PM, St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1400 Miller Road, Coral Gables, FL 33146. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Humane Society of Greater Miami-Dade County, Chapter 16101 W. Dixie Hwy. North Miami Beach, Fl, 33160.
