WHY TEACH?

-

Tenure in state universities and colleges protects faculty from being fired without due process or for reasons having nothing to do with job performance. Without tenure, faculty can be fired because, for example, a supervisor wants their job for a friend or family member, or a department head doesn’t like that faculty member.

History faculty are now supposed to teach America’s Civil War without mentioning slavery as a cause. This is ridiculous. Will we next teach our youth about World War II without mentioning Pearl Harbor?

Distinguished professors won’t work in a state that ignores their expertise
