QB Van Dyke announces he is transferring from the University of Miami to Wisconsin

Former University of Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who said late last month that he would enter the transfer portal, announced Tuesday that he will go to the University of Wisconsin, ESPN reported.

Van Dyke, who has one year of eligibility remaining, was a three-year starter for the Hurricanes and the 2021 ACC Rookie of the Year.

Wisconsin has been aggressive in the transfer portal under coach Luke Fickell, who was hired in November 2022.

ESPN noted that the Badgers went to the Air Raid offense this season with limited success in a 7-5 regular season. Van Dyke played in a similar offensive system at UM.

Van Dyke, 6-4 and 230 pounds, is from Glastonbury, Connecticut. He played in 32 games over his career, with 27 starts. He completed 581 of 912 passes (63.7 percent) at UM for 7,469 yards with 54 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

Boise State: Multipurpose quarterback Taylen Green decided to transfer to Arkansas, which recently hired Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator.

The 6-foot-6 Green passed for 1,752 yards and 11 touchdowns against nine interceptions for the Broncos last season. He rushed for 434 yards and nine touchdowns.

Michigan: Running back CJ Stokes became the first Wolverines player this season to enter his name into the transfer portal. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

He rushed for 273 yards on 55 carries with one touchdown as a true freshman in 2022. However, he saw a very limited workload this season in a crowded backfield led by Blake Corum along with Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings.

Corum and Edwards are expected to depart for the NFL, but Michigan has several freshman backs, and coach Jim Harbaugh could seek additional backfield help through the portal.

Michigan State: Linebacker Jacoby Windmon has entered his name into the transfer portal and will have one year of eligibility remaining as a fifth-year senior. Windmon joined the Spartans from UNLV following the 2021 season. This season he had 15 tackles and a sack before missing the final nine games due to a pectoral injury, allowing him to take a redshirt year.

Nebraska: Quarterback Jeff Sims departed the program after one season to enter the portal. He was the starting quarterback at the outset of the season before turnover issues and an ankle injury derailed his campaign.

Sims threw six interceptions in just 47 pass attempts for Nebraska. He passed for 282 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 189 yards and one touchdown.

Sims previously played three seasons at Georgia Tech before transferring prior to last season.

Tennessee: Cornerback Doneiko Slaughter announced that he will leave the program after playing in 43 games over the past four years. He has 87 career tackles, including 32 this season despite missing two games.

“Expressing my gratitude for the tremendous support, development and love I’ve experienced during my time at the University of Tennessee,” Slaughter posted on X.

“The relationships I’ve built with my brothers and staff have been invaluable, contributing significantly to my growth as both an athlete and individual. The support from Volnation has made this university feel like a home.”
