Aquinas boys’ volleyball opens with win vs. Monarch
The St. Thomas Aquinas boys’ volleyball team opened the season by defeating Monarch 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.
John Virginio earned the prestigious title of MaxPreps Player of the Game. With an impressive hitting percentage (61.1 percent), Virginio showcased his accuracy and power on the court. His performance was highlighted by 11 kills in just 18 attempts.

In a battle of unbeatens, the Belen Jesuit boys’ lacrosse team defeated Wellington 17-5.
Max Cabanas led the way with 8 goals and 1 assist. Juan Carlos De Sautu totaled 4 goals and 4 assists, and Adriano Vizoso recorded 2 goals and 2 assists. Luke Collings, Ralfi Antun and Adrian Navarro each had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Andrew Candela was stellar in net for the Wolverines with 12 saves.
Also, Jack Balsera won 16-of-20 on faceoffs, and teammate Jack Guitan went 3-of-5. Adrian Navarro and Andres Lievano caused 5 turnovers as Belen improved to 8-0. Wellington is 7-1.
BASEBALL
Miami Beach senior baseball player Jacob Gaynor signed with Grinnell
College, an NCAA Division III program in Iowa.
Gaynor, a four-year starter, plays center field for the Hi-Tides, entering his senior season with no errors. He is currently batting
.400 with three doubles and two home runs.
Off the field, Gaynor carries a 5.25 cumulative grade point average and plans to study medicine.

The Gulliver Prep girls’ tennis team edged MAST 4-3.
Trailing 3-2, the Raiders swept the doubles with Valentina Rossi and Valentina Donoso teaming to win an exciting tiebreaker at No.1 doubles. Maya Quintero and Hanna Matuk won at No.2 as Gulliver Prep remained undefeated.
