Lauren Sanchez has a lot of things cooking.

No, really. Jeff Bezos’ fiancée was front and center at Aspen Ideas, a three-day conference at the Miami Beach Convention Center that was focused on finding climate-change solutions.

On Tuesday evening, Sanchez took to the lectern in her role as vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund and announced a whopping $60 million investment to help establish the Bezos Centers for Sustainable Protein. The centers will address challenges facing the alternative-protein industry, aka lab-grown and plant-based meats.

“Trust me, I’ve had them,” the Indian Creek resident told the crowd. “And you can hardly tell the difference. I really like ’em.”

Sanchez, 54, also took the opportunity to announce a new, more personal project, a children’s book called “The Fly Who Flew to Space,” now available for preorder (on Amazon, naturally).

The story follows Flynn, a curious, underachieving fly who has dreams of becoming an astronaut. One day while buzzing around the local rocket company, he is accidentally launched into space. On his farreaching journey, he gets an education about the Earth’s natural resources, “from amazing natural wonders, like the rainforest, to the atmosphere that protects it all.”

Sanchez, who flies helicopters and has her own aviation company, told People magazine recently that she actually had the idea for the plot long before meeting the Amazon founder, who also owns the Blue Origin aerospace manufacturer in Cape Canaveral.

The $19.99 book went through some edits and tweaks over time, and it will be out on shelves in September.

On Instagram last week Sanchez showed off the colorful cover, which features adorable, bugeyed Flynn and doubles as a poster.

“I’m beyond grateful b/c this story holds a piece of my heart,” said the former TV journalist’s post. “It’s a celebration of overcoming challenges, the joy of learning, and dreaming beyond the stars.”
