The reigning national champion Nova Southeastern University men’s basketball team rallied to defeat Southern New Hampshire, 68-60, on Tuesday in Evansville, Indiana.

Top-ranked NSU (31-2) advanced to Thursday’s NCAA Division II semifinals against 20th-ranked Cal State Bernadino (27-7).

Cal State upset thirdranked Gannon, 99-65, on Thursday. Gannon is coached by former NSU assistant Jordan Fee.

NSU, which trailed by 14 points at halftime on Tuesday, is 98-3 over the past three seasons.

NCAA WOMEN

Clark and Co. advance: Caitlin Clark scored 32 points while breaking the single-season NCAA scoring record and No. 1 seed Iowa escaped with a 64-54 win over No. 8 seed West Virginia in the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament on Monday night in Iowa City.

The Hawkeyes (31-4) advance to play No. 5 seed Colorado in the Sweet 16 at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (ABC) in a Region 2 semifinal at Albany, N.Y.

JJ Quinerly scored 15 points to lead West Virginia (25-8).

Clark made history in the final home game of her collegiate career. She needed 29 points to surpass Kelsey Plum, who scored 1,109 points during her senior season with Washington during the 2016-17 campaign.

With 21.3 seconds remaining, Clark set the record by knocking down a free throw. She made three more free throws in the closing seconds to give her 1,113 points for the season.

Iowa finished strong in front of a raucous home crowd.

Gabbie Marshall blocked a Quinerly shot with 2:12 left, and Sydney Affolter drove to the rim and made a left-handed layup to put Iowa on top 54-52 with 2:03 remaining.

CONNECTICUT ROLLING

Back-to-back titles? UConn’s quest to become the first team to repeat as the men’s national champion in nearly two decades has gotten off to a dominating start.

Not only do the Huskies own the longest winning streak in the country at nine games, but UConn has now won eight consecutive NCAA Tournament games by double digits. After dispatching No. 16 Stetson and No. 9 Northwestern by an average of 28 points, next up for UConn in the East Regional in Boston is No. 5 seed San Diego State on Thursday (7:39 p.m., TBS/ truTV).

The Huskies opened the tournament as the favorite, and their odds have dropped to about 2-to-1. It helps that No. 4 Auburn and No. 6 BYU failed to make it out of the first round.

Next is North Carolina at about 10-to-1. North Carolina has also cruised through its first two games, but if the Tar

Heels get past No. 4 Alabama in the Sweet 16 an Elite Eight date against No. 2 Arizona could lie in wait.

The North CarolinaAlabama game in Los Angeles is at 9:39 p.m. Thursday (CBS).

Arizona owns doubledigit victories over Long Beach State and Dayton to begin the tournament and will face No. 6 Clemson on Thursday (7:09 p.m., CBS) in Los Angeles. The Wildcats have been the biggest mover of the tournament at DraftKings, where their title odds have shifted from 12-to-1 to 9-to-1.

Next is Duke, which opened at 35-to-1. The fourth-seeded Blue Devils are now 22-to-1 ahead of a Sweet 16 matchup against top-seeded Houston in Dallas on Friday (9:39 p.m., CBS).

After that is a potential matchup against No. 2 seed Marquette.

While UConn does face a difficult road with four of the top five seeds remaining in the East, No. 1 Purdue faces the same challenge in the Midwest.

If the Boilermakers can get past No. 5 Gonzaga in the Sweet 16, they would face an Elite Eight duel against either No. 2 Tennessee or No. 3 Creighton.
